ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Retired Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday has served legal notice on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for accusing the former judge of being complicit in rigging during the 2013 general elections.
The notice says that the baseless allegations and character assassination on the part of Imran Khan has mentally tortured him.
In his notice, Ramday said that he will pursue the legal course if Imran Khan did not apologize within 14 days.
On August 12, Imran Khan accused retired Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday of involvement in election rigging.
The PTI chairman alleged that retired Justice Ramday had invited the Returning Offices (ROs) to dinner where the then Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was the chief guest and expressed that Nawaz Sharif was the best option.
Imran Khan claimed retired Justice Ramday was behind Nawaz Sharif’s victory speech to influence ROs. Imran Khan said that for retired Justice Ramday’s role his sons were rewarded.
The PTI chairman said that Mustafa Ramday was appointed as advocate general while Asad Ramday was the MNA from Toba Tek Singh. Likewise, a niece of Justice (retd) Ramday was elected on a reserved seat, Imran added.
