ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain has said that Begum Kalsoom Nawaz has a long political struggle as she played an active role in politics during Musharraf regime and kept Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) united.
Talking to media in Islamabad on Thursday, the minister said that Begum Kalsoom Nawaz is a strong candidate for NA-120 by-election and she will win the election.
The minister said that Kulsoom Nawaz is a political women, and is the most suitable candidate for NA-120 seat.
Rana Tanveer further said that there is no rift in the PML-N and all decisions are being taken with consensus of the party. However, he added that everyone has the right of difference of opinion, and it is the beauty of democracy.
Earlier in the day, the Returning Officer (RO) at Punjab Election Commission’s Office in Lahore accepted nomination papers of PML-N’s Kalsoom Nawaz for by-election in NA-120. The RO rejected all objections raised by the Opposition including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on the candidature of Kulsoom Nawaz.
In reply to a question, Rana Tanveer said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wants all political parties to sit together to resolve prevailing issues.
