NEW DELHI, India: The civil society activists, who staged a Kashmir Solidarity March (Kashmir Yatra) for ‘Restoration of Democracy and Peace’ in Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) from Jammu to Srinagar, will release their report in New Delhi on Thursday (December 5) after the conclusion of their March.
The group of 20 yatries (marchers) began the Kashmir Solidarity March on November 26 from Jammu seeking restoration of democracy and peace in J&K. They planned to reach Srinagar by December 1; however, they were not allowed beyond the Jammu region by the police but six of them continued the journey as individuals and managed to enter Srinagar taking the advantage of the dark velvet of night.
The March’s participants observed that contrary to claims of normalcy, civil rights, media freedom and freedom of speech are in peril in the valley. They also observed that education and the local economy in Jammu and Kashmir have been greatly affected.
