SRINAGAR: A complete shutdown is being observed on Thursday in occupied Kashmir against the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The call for shutdown and protest was given by veteran Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik.
The Indian prime minister said on Tuesday that he would spend Diwali in Srinagar.
Friends, I am leaving for Siachen Glacier. Its my good fortune that I will be able to spend time with our brave soldiers on this special day

Am going to Siachen with a message from each and every Indian to our soldiers- that we stand shoulder to shoulder with you!

In a statement, Syed Ali Gilani questioned Narendra Modi’s celebrations of Diwali in Kashmir when he did not even felicitate Muslims on their recently-celebrated Eid-ul-Azha.
