Monitoring Desk: Astana, Kazakhstan: Astana has offered China Trans-Caspian route for the delivery of Chinese goods to the markets of Europe while bypassing Russia by using Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway route.
“Astana wants to become the main transport hub of the Chinese initiative “One belt, one Road” initiative by offering the trans-Caspian route for the delivery of Chinese goods to the European markets”, said vice-president of JSC “Kazakhstan Railways” Sanjar Elyubayev at the international conference “The role of the Trans-Caspian trade and transit corridor in the implementation of the One-Way, One Way” initiative in Beijing. Conference was held on February 6, 2018.
According to Sanjar Elyubayev, the advantage of the movement of goods along this route is speed – the time of delivery of goods from China to Turkey is 13-14 days. He stated that transportation along the route would provide a low price for container transportation.
China is considering using the Trans-Caspian route which is more promising than through the territory of Russia.
It is worth recalling that the trans-Caspian transport route is an international transport corridor that runs through the territories of China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and further to European countries through Turkey.
