ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Diamer Astore Division Barrister Muhammad Khalid Khurshid Khan is most likely to be the next Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan.
His nomination for the slot was approved by the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Chairman PTI Imran Khan, the PTI Chief Organizer Saifullah Khan Nyazee said on Friday.

The election for the slot will be held on Monday between Khalid Khursheed and the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Candidate Amjad Hussain.
Khalid Khurshid was elected as the Member of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly from GBA-13 Astore 1.
The elections for the 33-member Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly were held on November 15, 2020.
In the new legislative assembly, PTI is ruling with 22 seats followed by PPP with 5, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) 3, Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) 1, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUIP) 1, and 1 Independent Candidate.

Earlier, PTI’s Amjad Zaidi and Nazir Ahmed were elected as the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly respectively.
In the elections for the slots, Amjad Zaidi secured 18 votes beating PML-N’s Ghulam Muhammad who managed to receive 6 votes whereas Nazir Ahmed bagged 22 votes against 9 votes by JUI-P’s Rehmat Khaliq.
