ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed Wednesday informed the National Assembly that Khanewal-Lodhran Expressway (E-5) would be linked with Khanewal-Multan Motorway.
Responding to a Calling Attention Notice raised by Saeed Ahmed Khan Manais and others regarding non-commencement of work on Khanewal-Lodhran Express Way, he said that the PC-1 of the project (E-5) having 103 km length was approved in 2010 but could not materialize. The bank did not honor its commitment to provide loan for the project, he said.
The minister said later, the Punjab government decided to convert it into dual carriage way and the National Highway Authority (NHA) also issued non objection certificate (NoC) for the project. However, now, it would be connected with Khanewal-Lodhran Motorway and its 57 km section has already been completed, he added.
Aftab Ahmed said under the PM vision, development projects would be given to all districts.
Meanwhile, Zahid Hamid on behalf of Minister for Law and Justice Pervaiz Rasheed laid the annual report of the National Commission on the Status of women for the year 2014 as required by section 16(2) of the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) Act, 2012.
