ISLAMABAD: Federal Water and Power Minister Khwaja Asif signaled to ramp up the power tariffs, saying it has been decided that the tariffs will be increased to resolve the power crisis facing the country.
Talking to a British television in an interview, the federal minister said the power tariffs will be enhanced for the industrial and commercial consumers immediately from July; however, for residential consumers, the power price will be augmented in two to three months.
Khwaja Asif said the issue of circular debt was spawned by the subsidy; however, the government has decided to abolish subsidy.
