PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has allocated Rs 12 billion for 101 projects of health sector in Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2017-18.

During budget speech in KPK assembly in Peshawar, the Provincial Finance Minister Muzaffar Said Advocate told that Rs 12 billion have been allocated for 101 projects of health sector. He said that Rs 9.96 billion have been allocated for ongoing 75 projects of health sector while Rs 2.4 billion have been earmarked for 26 new projects.

The finance minister said that focus and aims of government in health sector included Hepatitis Centre Nishtarabad, Hayatabad Medical Complex, Emergency Bloc in Khyber Teaching Hospital, Institute of Kidney Diseases Hayatabad, construction of additional wards in Lady Reading Hospital and purchase of equipments for newly constructed building of Saidu Group of Hospitals.

Muzaffar Said Advocate said that Basic Health Units in Swabi and Swat would be converted to Rural Health Centres, free treatment would be given to 47000 patients of tuberculosis and 1300 cancer patients in current year.

The minister informed that 3900 new Lady Health Workers and 181 EPI Technicians would be appointed besides recruitment of 78 nurses under Nutritional Program. He said that 1500 motorcycles would be given to EPI Technicians while construction work on District Hospital Kohistan and Rural Health Centre Shewa Swabi would also be completed.
