PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Tuesday welcomed the launch of FATA Economic Revitalization Project under which 15,000 families of North Waziristan, South Waziristan and Khyber agencies would be benefited by developing local resources.

While addressing the launching ceremony of the FATA Economic Revitalization Program at Governor House in Peshawar on Tuesday, the governor said together with the donors and the many other friends, we managed the situation with great success in the past and we are also thankful to all of them for timely realizing the ground realities.

The KPK governor said the people of Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) had been suffering since long and their miseries were increased when they had to be displaced from their native places in the past.

The FATA Economic Revitalization Program will be jointly funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) costing to the tune of $120 million.

In this respect, a memorandum of understanding between the Pakistan based Country heads of USAID and the UNDP was also signed on the occasion.

The Country Director UNDP Pakistan Ignacio Artaza, the USAID Assistant Administrator Gregory Huger, the Additional Chief Secretary FATA Sikandar Qayyum, and other government officials were also present on the occasion.
