PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak said that government was all set to put on ground projects such as oil refinery in Karak, a cement plant in Haripur, three hydel power projects of 506 megawatt, and two housing schemes, one Peshawar Model Housing Scheme and Motorway Housing Scheme in the next few days.Â
He directed for a tripartite agreement by the industries, mineral, EZMIC with FWO.
The provincial government should finalize all the pre-requisites for the agreement in order to expedite the process of limitation on these projects, he further directed.
The Chief Minister was presiding over a tripartite meeting in Peshawar at Chief Minister Secretariat.
Provincial Ministers Muhammad Atif Khan, Anisa Zaib Tahir Khaili, Special Assistant Abdul Kareem, Administrative Secretaries, DG Frontier Works FWO and Chairman EZMIC Ghulam Dastagir attended.
The meeting thoroughly discussed the oil refinery at Karak, a cement plant at Haripur and three hydel power projects, Shogasin 132 MW, Shashgni-Zhendoli 144 MW and Laspur-Morigram 230 MW at Chitral, Peshawar Model Housing Scheme and the 80,000 Kanal Motorway Housing Scheme.
The meeting also took a number of decisions in this regard.
Addressing the participants, Chief Minister said his government had made up its mind to expeditiously start working on these projects.
He directed his team to finalize agreement with FWO strictly in consonance with the in vogue law and regulations so that the projects were put on ground.
He directed against any hindrance in the public welfare schemes and these schemes should be put on fast track.
Pervez Khattak said that the province was now in a position to attract investment because his government made an easy and accessible system. The Government, he added, planned the future of the province in a realistic way.
Different regions of this province had different and diversified advantages and the time had come to harness these advantages for the benefit of the people and growth of the province.
Initiatives would be region specific and different regions would be developed on different lines in view of the regions specific advantages, he added.
The Chief Minister said that the province had the potential to grow and this growth would be at local level that would enhance trade and industrialization and create jobs for the jobless that would bring development for the people, he added.
He directed for exploitation of province’s rich resources, pro poor people and pro people actions so that the province could earn and its earnings could be utilized on the people’s welfare. He hoped that because of his government development initiatives, the province would stand on its own feet.
Referring to the hydel power projects, the Chief Minister said that energy and power was a need for the whole of the country that was why his government was working on them. He said his government had a vision and wanted the overall development of the province with collective efforts.
Regarding the housing schemes Pervez Khattak was of the view that government was planning the future of the province. We have already started different schemes for integration of the whole region so that the province could become a centre of trade and economic activity; therefore, his government needed projects like Peshawar Model Town and Motorway Housing Schemes for the future needs of the province.
Pervez Khattak also referred to the circular railway track integrating Peshawar-Nowshera, Nowshera-Swabi, Charsadda-Mardan, for which a Chinese company had recently showed interest.
The project of rapid bus transit for Peshawar was at its advanced stage. His government made a system in the province and laid down the foundation for development of the province.
The government started the process of development in the region that would lead to the overall prosperity of the country, he added.
