PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) for Information and Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani Monday said in order to improve quality of education and health services, the government has decided to establish universities on district level and make the colleges and hospitals autonomous.
He said while addressing a cheque distribution ceremony among 295 M.Phil and Ph.D scholars here at APS Martyred Library.
Mushtaq Ghani said the provincial government is establishing 59 colleges on district level, adding work on 29 colleges have been completed while the rest have also been approved.
He said the KPK government is purchasing HIACE vans at a cost of Rs170 million to provide those to educational institutions. 14 such vans were distributed last year while 50 were distributed in the ceremony and 25 others have been approved he added.
Mushtaq Ghani said the government is paying Rs. 80 billion to educational institutions under the head of salaries of the staff.
He said that Rs eight billion is being given to local bodies for development of Higher Secondary Schools while 20 per cent for work in Middle Schools.
