RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Special Apex Committee on Monday reviewed security situation in the province and progress of operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.
The meeting was held in Peshawar with the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa as special participant. All Civil and Military members including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, and Commander Peshawar Corps participated in the meeting.
Issues emanating from the presence of Afghan refugees and matters related to improved border management also came under discussion.
The forum also discussed measures to facilitate process for main streaming Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA).
The participants appreciated the efforts of Pakistan army, intelligence and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs). They pledged that concerted joint efforts would continue to energize National Action Plan (NAP) and eradicate root causes of terrorism and militancy.
They acknowledged tremendous work done by all concerned in rehabilitation of Temporary Displaced Persons (TDPs), with 89 percent TDPs already returned and 93 percent of FATA’s area de-notified.
