NationalKPK TEVTA initiates CBT&A on hydel power technicians

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the financial support of donors has initiated Competency Based Training Assessment (CBT&A) on micro hydel power technicians in Government College of Technology (GCT) Mingora.

This was stated by the Principle GCT, Mingora and other officials of the college while briefing a group of journalists that visited the college.

The journalists were told that TEVTA has recently initiated competency based training ((CBT) in 13 different technical training institutes across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for ensuring better employability and qualified workforce for the province and abroad.

The new training programme is supported by the TVET Reform Support Programme, which is funded by the European Union, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Royal Norwegian Embassy. The Deutsche Gesellschaft furInternationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) implements this programme in close collaboration with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and provincial TEVTAs.

Under the uniform programme, KP TEVTA has made remarkable achievements in terms of policy formulation as representatives have given input in the formulation of national TVET policy and National Vocational Qualification Framework (NVQF). Besides, policy documents, the overall structure of KP TEVTA has been standardized in line with current trends and needs in TVET delivery through exposure visit to Sri Lanka and Indonesia as well as in country exposure visit to learn best practices.

1232 teachers have been trained in 79 In Service Training (IST) courses conducted all across the country and capacity of teachers have been enhanced to undertake responsibilities for execution of competency based training and assessment programme.

Accreditation of TVET institutes of TEVTA is another area where KP TEVTA has progressed in collaboration with NAVTTC besides training of Vocational Counseling and Job Placement (VCJP) officers to guide the youth of the province towards the opportunities in technical and vocational education and supporting accreditation of programmes in TVET institutes and introducing and piloting M&E for monitoring NSS implementation.
