ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Kyrgyzstan on Thursday expressed its keen interest to further improve bilateral trade with Pakistan as both the Countries had great potential to increase trade in many areas.

“Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan enjoy good relations and have historical roots, common religion, similar traditions and worldview on many issues,” Kyrgyzstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Erik Beishembiev said while talking to a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in Islamabad.

The ICCI delegation was led by its Vice President Nisar Ahmed Mirza.

Kyrgyz ambassador said in the recent years, leadership of both the Countries had shown great interest to further strengthen and develop bilateral and regional cooperation.

Erik Beishembiev said Kyrgyzstan was quite interested in supporting Pakistan in solving energy crisis and was actively promoting implementation of CASA 1000 power export project.

The envoy said the bilateral trade potential between Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan had not been realized as yet and there was a need of taking strong measures from both sides to improve the existing trade volume for mutual benefit.

Speaking at the occasion, the ICCI Vice President said Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan enjoyed excellent political relations that should be transformed into growing trade and economic relations. He said Kyrgyzstan should consider launching direct flights to Pakistan that would help in improving trade relations.

Nisar Ahmed Mirza said Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan being members of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) could jointly achieve goals in the areas of transport, energy and trade policy to alleviate poverty from the region.

The ICCI Vice President said Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan had good potential to promote mutual cooperation in many areas and they should focus on developing strong linkages between their private sectors so that businessmen could explore all untapped areas of trade and exports.

Nisar Ahmed said both the Countries should also focus on developing better interaction between trade promotion organizations. He said many Pakistan products including pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, textiles, sports and cutlery products could find good market in Kyrgyzstan and it should import these products from Pakistan.
