LAHORE, Pakistan: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday barred the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Leader and Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz Sharif till April 8.

The Chief Justice LHC Justice Sardar Shamim accorded his approval to the pre-arrest bail petition filed by Hamza Shahbaz after NAB Officials returned to Shahbaz Sharif’s residence in Lahore today to arrest his son in money laundering and asset beyond means case.

In the petition filed by his Counsel, Hamza Shahbaz had demanded to suspend his arrest warrants and take action against the bureau for Contempt of Court.

In a statement, the NAB Lahore Spokesman Zeeshan Anwar said that warrant of Hamza Shahbaz was according to rule and law. He said that Rangers was called in to implement the orders of PML-N leader’s arrest.

It was NAB’s second attempt in two days to arrest the PML-N leader. Earlier yesterday, when its Officials raided at his father’s residence in Lahore to arrest him, his guards mishandled the bureau officials and even tore their clothes.

The NAB argued that they had summoned Hamza to appear but he didn’t act upon. The bureau also said that they had concrete evidences against Hamza Shahbaz, and as per the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s ruling, they could arrest him without notifying him before his arrest.
