KARACHI, Pakistan: Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan said Monday that the establishment of lasting peace will make Karachi an ideal city for investment.
He said that due to two international sea ports Karachi has very vital role in import and export of goods, while the port of Keti Bandar in Thatta can also be developed as an international standard.
This he said while talking to a delegation of China Institute for Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), said a statement.
He said the relations of Pakistan and China are getting stronger and stronger with a every passing day because it based on mutual trust and sincerity.
The six-member delegation led by Professor Fu Mengz met with the Sindh Governor at Governor House here.
Dr. Ebad said that changing of government and situations have never effected the relationship of Pakistan and China because these relationship is between the people of two neighbouring countries.
He said that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a project which will bring prosperity to the people of both the countries.
One hand the CPEC will help China get raw material in minimum possible time while it will bring development and prosperity in Pakistan on the other.
He pointed out that Karachi is city bigger than over 100 countries and it got not only economic but also strategic importance.
Establishment of lasting peace in Karachi will make it an ideal city for investors, he said.
Special security arrangements have been ensured for Chinese assisted projects including those under CPEC while Chinese Consulate in Karachi is also being provided every help and assistance regarding the issues confronted by Chinese businesses in Sindh.
A CPEC Desk in Governor House is also under consideration so as to further ensure solution of problems more promptly, he said.
Vice President CICIR Prof FU Mengzi said that CICIR works as think tank and presently visiting Pakistan to witness various phases of progress regarding CPEC. It was a mutually beneficial project and would help in realizing the dream of accelerated economic progress and prosperity.
He thanked Governor Sindh for various steps to ensure utmost cooperation and security to Chinese working on various projects throughout Sindh.
Secretary Karachi Council on Foreign Relations Ahsan Mukhtar Zubairi was also present on the occasion.
