The Indian legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has strongly criticized the recreated version of evergreen song āChalte Chalteā for upcoming Bollywood movie āMitronā. The song has recently been recorded in the voice of Atif Aslam and failed to give goosebumps. The remake of iconic piece has lost its true essence.
āChalte Chalteā was originally sang by Lata Mangeshkar for 1972 film āPakeezahā. She even slammed the trend of remaking old songs and said that nobody has the right to tinker with the creativity of great lyricists. She further said āThe original poets wrote what they wanted to and remaking of songs saddens meā.
Lata Mangeshkar derided that where is the creativity in shuffling the lyrics and lifting the beloved classics?Ā
The legendary singer further said, I have heard that remix has been composed with different lyrics. By whose consent? She kept on saying āI have not heard the Atif Aslamās version of Chalte Chalte and I donāt even want to.ā
Previously, Atif Aslam recreated āDhekhte Dhekhteā and āRashke Kamarā originally sang by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and didnāt inspire either. If he had sung them as a cover at live concerts, that would have been better.
Some days ago, Alka Yagnik also slammed the remake of her super hit āDilbar Dilbarā. She said āIt was okay but she couldnāt believe that young musicians have the audacity to distorting Lataās tracksā.
