The Indian legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has strongly criticized the recreated version of evergreen song ā€œChalte Chalteā€ for upcoming Bollywood movie ā€œMitronā€. The song has recently been recorded in the voice of Atif Aslam and failed to give goosebumps. The remake of iconic piece has lost its true essence.

ā€œChalte Chalteā€ was originally sang by Lata Mangeshkar for 1972 film ā€œPakeezahā€. She even slammed the trend of remaking old songs and said that nobody has the right to tinker with the creativity of great lyricists. She further said ā€œThe original poets wrote what they wanted to and remaking of songs saddens meā€.

Lata Mangeshkar derided that where is the creativity in shuffling the lyrics and lifting the beloved classics?Ā

The legendary singer further said, I have heard that remix has been composed with different lyrics. By whose consent? She kept on saying ā€œI have not heard the Atif Aslamā€™s version of Chalte Chalte and I donā€™t even want to.ā€

Previously, Atif Aslam recreated ā€œDhekhte Dhekhteā€ and ā€œRashke Kamarā€ originally sang by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and didnā€™t inspire either. If he had sung them as a cover at live concerts, that would have been better.

Some days ago, Alka Yagnik also slammed the remake of her super hit ā€œDilbar Dilbarā€. She said ā€œIt was okay but she couldnā€™t believe that young musicians have the audacity to distorting Lataā€™s tracksā€.
