PESHAWAR, Pakistan: An improvised explosive device (IED) blast took place in the Mamund tehsil of the Bajaur tribal region on Monday morning that left a levies soldier killed.
The officials said that a junior commissioned officer of Bajaur Levies forces named Sobedar Sultan Bakht was going to a local school for security duty when the explosion took place in the Badaan area of Mamund tehsil.
The IED was planted along the roadside, the officials added.
On Sunday, the security forces killed a wanted terrorist Islam Khan during a search operation in Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur agency.
The official sources said that the security forces launched a search operation in Nankana village after receiving information about presence of some wanted militants in the area. However, the militants opened fire on the forces which in their retaliatory attack killed the terrorist.
The killed militant was wanted in various terror cases and was also expert in manufacturing remote-control devices.
