ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday expressed its displeasure that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was not yet ready to hold the local government elections, meanwhile, the Punjab and Balochistan administrations said they were ready to hold the elections by December 7.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case relating to the holding of local government elections on Wednesday.
During today’s proceeding, Advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Abdul Lateef Yousufzai informed the court that the provincial government was still debating over a date for the elections and that preparations in this regard were not complete.
The administrations of Punjab and Balochistan told the court they had made preparations for the polls and were ready to hold the elections by December 7.
Whereas, the Sindh government said it was ready to hold the elections on November 27.
