NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader L K Advani has resigned from all party posts, Indian media reported on Monday, a day after the party named Narendra Modi to head its 2014 elections campaign.
Advani was among several senior BJP leaders who declined to attend the three-day party conference in the southwestern beach resort state of Goa at which Modi was appointed as standard-bearer for the elections, a position that could make him the party’s candidate for prime minister.
However, the BJP President Rajnath Singh has rejected Advani’s resignation, reports said.
