Since the Country is heading towards Summer, it believed that it might be plunged into darkness for hours again in months to follow.
Though even in the Winter Season – when the electricity demand falls considerably – announced or unannounced load shedding yet remains a routine occurrence in the Country but the situation worsens with the arrival of Summer.
The reasons for hours-long power breakdown are multifaceted ranging from the insufficient power generation to weather or technical issues caused by infrastructure development.
In January 2023, almost the entire Country suffered constant power outages for hours and hours after the national grid’s system frequency dropped. However, after a great deal of inconvenience suffered by the people all over the Country, 1,112 grid stations – responsible for transmitting and distributing electrical power from power generation sources to consumers – restored and the normalcy in life returned.
Main reasons load shedding:
- Insufficient Power Generation
- Transmission and Distribution Losses
- Unpaid Bills and Circular Debt
- Weather Conditions
- Technical Issues and Maintenance
