LAHORE, Pakistan: Mayor of London Sadiq Khan accompanied by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew met the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore on Wednesday and discussed matters of mutual interest & bilateral relations.

During the meeting held at his Model Town office in Lahore, Shahbaz Sharif welcomed Sadiq Khan and expressed hope that his visit further will further improve bilateral relations as well as business activities between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

Sadiq Khan said that Pakistan and London share a long and unique history that has had a profound influence on shaping our respective societies, economies, and cultures.

“I see my visit as an exciting opportunity to build on the ties that bind our cities and countries together,” Sadiq Khan said while talking to the Chief Minister Punjab.

Later, the Mayor London visited the tomb of the Poet of the East Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal and offered Fateha, and also recorded his impression in the visitor’s book. He also visited Badshahi Mosque.

Mayor Lahore Colonel (retd) Mubashir Javaid was also present on the occasion.

Earlier, London Mayor Sadiq Khan arrived in Pakistan on an official visit through Wagah Border.

The Mayor was received by Lahore Mayor and Lahore Commissioner at the border. He is scheduled to spend three days in Pakistan and will travel to Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi.

Earlier Sadiq Khan was earlier in India for around three days where he held meetings with government officials, members of the civil society and entertainment industry.
