TEHRAN, Iran: The National Security Advisor Lt. General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua’s visit to Tehran remained very productive, wherein the two sides reiterated their resolve to continue to cooperate for peace and security in the region.
His visit was primarily aimed to attend the 2nd Tehran Security Conference on Regional Security in the West Asia held on Monday under the title “Emerging Challenges and Trends.”
The adviser also held separate meetings with the Iranian Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Zarif and the Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) of Iran Admiral Ali Shamkhani in Tehran on the sidelines of the Security Conference.
The meetings took place in a very cordial environment, and during which dignitaries from both Pakistan and Iran had in depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and regional security situation.
The two sides expressed satisfaction on the improving relations between Pakistan and Iran, and reassured their continued cooperation for peace and security in the region.
They noted that they valued their relations with each other, and fully endorsed the notion of respecting each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. They also reaffirmed their commitment of not allowing anyone to use their respective soils against each other.
Meanwhile giving a detail about the meeting between Lt. General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua and Admiral Ali Shamkhani held in Tehran on Monday reported that the two sides stressed the need for safeguarding sustainable security at the borders, joint actions in fighting narcotics transit, human and weapon trafficking between Pakistan and Iran.
Nasser Janjua said that Muslims need to be alert against foreign conspiracies designed to increase the fray between them. He said that Pakistan would continue its economic and security cooperation with Iran.
While criticizing the US new national security strategy and its double-standard against Muslim Countries; Ali Shamkhani urged Muslim nations to forge closer cooperation to counter the US policy of seeking to create division among them.
“The US’ dishonest, duplicitous and divisive policy towards Muslim countries, including Iran and Pakistan, requires that they bolster cooperation against the US in addition to maintaining vigilance and taking preventive measures,” Ali Shamkhani was quoted as saying by Press TV.
Ali Shamkhani also said that Iran would not let any Country influence Tehran-Islamabad ties aversely.
