LAHORE, Pakistan: The Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri on Tuesday said their protest at Lahore’s Mall Road was for restoration of democracy in the Country, and it would be peaceful and democratic.

While addressing a Press Conference in Lahore, Tahir-ul-Qadir said they would launch the protest movement from 12 pm tomorrow (Wednesday), adding there would be single stage from where all leaders including Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and Co-Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Zardari would deliver speeches.

“We will come out for seeking justice and supremacy of law,” the Chairman PAT said.

The multi-party protest is being launched as part of efforts to pressurize Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah to tender their resignations after the Model Town inquiry report prepared by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi held the provincial government responsible for June 2014 massacre.

Besides PAT, PTI and PPP will also be the part of protest; however, according to the PTI’s Spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry, Imran Khan would reach at public gathering venue after Asif Zardari’s address

Fawad Chaudhry said a large number of PTI workers would participate in public gathering but Imran Khan would not lead any rally.

Earlier in a Press Conference, the Punjab government Spokesperson Malik Ahmed khan said PAT’s protest at Mall Road would badly affect schools and business activities in Lahore.

The Spokesperson said despite warnings protesters reached Mall Road during the protest of pharmacists and they lost DIG Traffic Captain Mubeen in terrorists’ attack.

Malik Ahmed khan said a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe Model Town Massacre had been formed with the collaboration of Tahir-ul-Qadri. He asked that why no protest was held against Mashal Khan lynching and other cases of same nature.

Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has formed a new three-member bench headed by Justice Aminud Din Khan and consisting of Justice Shahid Jamil Khan and Justice Shahid Karim to hear a petition filed by Senior Counsel AK Dogar against the Mall Road protest by the Joint Opposition.
