ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that democracy and good governance are essential for bringing development and harmony in the country.
In a meeting with Secretary General Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Akbar Khan who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Friday, the president expressed satisfaction that the country is moving in the right direction and democracy will grow further with the passage of time.
The president said that democracy is strengthening in Pakistan and the executive, legislature and judiciary are working harmoniously.
Mamnoon Hussain further said that the present government attaches great importance to ensuring human rights for all segments of society, and steps are being to empower women to enable them play their due role in the progress and prosperity of the country.
The president called upon investors from Commonwealth countries to take advantage of attractive investment policies in Pakistan by investing in energy, infrastructure and other sectors.
The CPA Secretary General said that the intra-commonwealth trade volume will be around 1$ trillion by 2020. He urged Pakistani businessmen and traders to avail vast opportunities to further boost Pakistan’s economy.
