ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Margalla hills of Islamabad had received intermittent snowfall after 10 years turning the weather of capital chilly.
The mountains including picnic point Pir Suhawa wore a white snow cover and a cold wave has gripped the twin cities, private news channel reported.
The intermittent rain spell started on Wednesday evening and brought the mercury down to minus Celsius due to which snowfall started at night and Margalla hills including adjacent areas received snowfall.
Meanwhile, rain brought severe wave of cold spell in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
A thick blanket of snow has also covered various parts of Pakistan including Galliat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Murree and Azad Kashmir.
According to details, Murree and Galliat are observing intermittent snowfall, turning weather cold again. The tourists are ready to enjoy the snow covered areas in chilly weather.
Several roads heading to Muzaffarabad, Poonch district, Bagh, Haveli, Hattian and Neelum district have been closed for every kind of traffic due to land sliding.
About 1 to 2 feet snowfall has been recorded in Toli, Sadhan Gali, Pir Chanasi and Neela Butt while Thandiani is also experiencing snowfall.
Mansehra division and its adjoining areas are also facing cold weather due to snow however, Tanawal has witnessed snowfall after 11 years, blocking connecting roads to Kaghan and Shinkiari.
The changing weather condition has also badly disrupted the power in the areas.
On the other hand, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that the showers will continue in several areas including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir up until Friday.
