The Margallah Hills National Park (MHNP) was established in 1980 by the Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Housing and Works (Environment and Urban Affairs Division).The main aims and objectives of Margallah Hills National Park are listed below:
(i) Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management of Wildlife and setting of National Park in the Islamabad Capital Territory.
(ii) National Park shall be accessible to public for recreation, education and research subject to restrictions as the Federal Government may impose.
(iii) Restriction on hunting, Poaching, Killing of Wild animals/birds in Margallah Hills National Park (MHNP).
(iv) Restriction on hunting, shooting, trapping or capturing of any Wild animals/ birds within Margallah Hills National Park (MHNP) and its boundaries.
(v) There are restrictions on felling, tapping, burning, damaging or destroying of or taking collecting or removing there from any plant or tree.
There are a number of species found in Margallah Hills National Park; however, being wild animals no physical survey has been conducted to assess the exact number of these animals and birds.
Amusement Parks in Islamabad
At present, there are six Amusement Parks in Islamabad and when new Sector will be developed such Amusement Park will be developed as per existing policy/instructions.
During the last 10 years, 37 Public Parks have been developed by the Landscape & Development Division.
There are several new Sectors i.e. I-11, I-12, I-14, I-15, I-16, D-12, Park Enclave and Model Villages which are under process for development. As and when these areas are developed/ completed, new parks will be developed to meet the demand/ requirement of general public as per CDA approved Layout Plan.
Three to four months are required to develop a park after completion of codal formalities.
