ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz termed the lifetime disqualification of the Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif a ‘fixed match’.
“Remember now the people will vote even for Khawaja Asif’s shadow,” Maryam Nawaz said while reacting to a decision by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) which declared the foreign minister disqualified for having a UAE Iqama.

Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz also replaced the display picture on her twitter account with a new one depicting her with Khawaja Asif.
Earlier in the afternoon, Justice Athar Minallah while heading a three-member bench of the IHC disqualified Khawaja Asif as a member of the Parliament under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution.
“We declare that the Respondent [Asif] was not qualified to contest the General Election of 2013 from NA-110 as he did not fulfill the conditions described under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution, read with section 99(1)(f) of the Act of 1976,” reads the judgment announced by the IHC bench.
The IHC also asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to de-notify Khawaja Asif as a member of the Parliament.
The judgement had been reserved on April 10 after arguments – related to a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Usman Dar saying the Khawaja Asif was an Iqama holder and he didn’t mention his salary, he received from an Abu Dhabi Company where he worked as a legal advisor, in the 2013 nomination papers – from both the parties ended.
