KARACHI: The Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) on Monday forecast rain with thunderstorm at scattered places of Punjab‚ Khyber Pakhtunkhwa‚ Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the next 12 hours.

However‚ hot and dry weather is likely in other parts of the country.

Director General PMD Arif Mehmood said a new spell of monsoon rains is likely from July 6 as first phase of monsoon rains ends.

Mehmood said Islamabad, upper Punjab, DG Khan, Multan division, upper and lower KPK province, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan areas, North Balochistan and parts of upper Sindh are likely to receive rains during the next 24 hours.

The intermittent rains will continue for the next couple of days.

Temperature of some major cities recorded this morning:

Islamabad 23 degree centigrade‚ Lahore 28‚ Karachi 30‚ Peshawar and Quetta 24‚ Murree 17‚ Muzaffarabad 20 and Gilgit 19 degree centigrade.
