ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Metro Bus Service from Peshawar Mor to New Islamabad International Airport will be made operational by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in the first quarter of 2022, the National Assembly was told.

In a written reply, the Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told the House on Friday that the infrastructure works on the Metro Bus Service to New Islamabad International Airport has been executed by the National Highway Authority (NHA).

However, he added, certain essential items/equipment such as Ticketing System, Security Surveillance System, ITS, Command & Control Centre, Bus Depot with ancillaries etc. have not been undertaken by the NHA but is required to operationalize the system.

For the purpose, a separate PC-1 was prepared by the CDA and has been approved by the government, Sheikh Rashid told.

The minister told that certain works (included in the NHA Scope) is yet to be completed by the authority; such as (i) Road Safety worksi/c Signboards, (ii) Fixing of Cat-eyes & Lane marking, (iii) Missing Light Fittings & Fixtures, (iv) Lane Separation (N-5 to Airport Turning), (v) Walkthrough Gates and Luggage Scanners, (vi) Bathroom Fitting & fixtures, (vii) Park & Ride Facility Lighting, (viii) Data Cabin, (ix) Horticulture Works (x) IESCO, and other Utility Connections etc.

Sheikh Rashid told the House that the CDA has already engaged Consultants to design the missing facilities i/c procurement of Buses and construction of Command & Control Centre etc.
