KABUL, Afghanistan: The Afghan Capital was jolted again early Monday when gunmen including a suicide bomber attacked a military academy in Kabul, causing further casualties in the already blood-stricken City.

The attack took place near the Marshal Fahim Military Academy in Kabul wherein a suicide bomber denoted himself and then gunmen opened heavy fire on an army unit.

In the subsequent exchange of fire between the militants and the Afghan security personnel, two Afghan soldiers were killed while 10 others received injuries.

The Afghan Defense Ministry Spokesman said that the Afghan Soldiers killed two militants in the gun battle and arrested another alive.

The militant Islamic State (IS) group claimed responsibility for the Kabul Military Academy attack.

Earlier on January 27, at least 103 people were killed whereas 235 further wounded after a bomb hidden in an ambulance went off at a Police Check Post in Kabul followed by a day of national mourning throughout Afghanistan.

Following the ambulance bomb blast, the neighboring Pakistan strongly condemned that dastardly terrorist attack and expressed deep grief and sorrow at the loss of precious human lives.

Reiterating its strong condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, Pakistan said no cause or ends justified acts of terrorism against innocent.

While on January 20, militants struck Hotel Intercontinental in Kabul which resulted in deaths of at least 25 people including foreigners.
