PakistanMoving US Embassy to Jerusalem is a clear violation of Int’l legislations:...

The Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani has said that US intention to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is a clear violation of international legislations including UN Security Council Resolution 2334 since Jerusalem is an occupied territory.

In a meeting with President of the House of Representatives of Jordan Atef Al Tarawneh and other prominent members of the House in Amman, Rabbani opined that any initiatives to alter the status quo in Jerusalem will undermine peace efforts and will have negative repercussions on the region’s peace, the Muslim Ummah and the entire world.

Raza Rabbani is currently leading a delegation of Senators including Senators Muhammad Javed Abbasi, Sardar Muhammad Azam Khan Musakhel and Brig. John Kenneth Williams to Jordan.

During his meeting with President of the Jordanian House of Representatives, the Chairman Senate expressed gratitude over the cordial welcome to the visiting delegation and appreciated the unswerving support of Jordan to the ‘two state solution’ of the Palestine issue.

Rabbani apprised Atef Al Tarawneh on the continued human rights’ violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir. He said that it is not a coincidence that the two longest standing unresolved issues, Kashmir and Palestine, with a history of suffering and genocide in both occupied territories, happen to belong to the Muslim Ummah.

The President of the House of Representatives expressed solidarity with Pakistan on the grave human rights’ violations in Jammu & Kashmir and ensured the Chairman of Jordan’s full support on Kashmir issue.

Atef Al Tarawneh sought Pakistan’s support on the emerging situation in Palestine in the wake of recent US indication to move its Embassy to Jerusalem and the subsequent recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. He said that Pakistan and Jordan deeply value the bilateral relations rooted in trust, shared spiritual ideals and peace driven policies.

Earlier, the Chairman of Senate held meetings with the Monarch of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan King Abdullah-II, Prime Minister Dr. Hani Al Mulki, and President of the Senate of Jordan Faisal Akef Al Fayez.

The Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy of Pakistan in Amman also attended the meetings.

The visit of the Chairman of Senate comes at a crucial juncture when the US has recently given an indication to move its US Embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem with a subsequent recognition of Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel.
