ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has called upon Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo motu notice into the murder of its Sindh Assembly member in Karachi.
Unknown gunmen shot dead MQM MPA Muhammad Sajid Qureshi, from PS-103, and his son on Friday as they left a mosque after attending Friday prayers in Karachi’s North Nazimabad area.
“Gunmen on a motorcycle fired at (Sindh) provincial assembly member Sajid Qureshi, his son and a pedestrian when they were coming out of mosque,” said senior police official Amir Farooqi.
Talking to newsmen outside the Parliament House in Islamabad, MQM leader Rashid Godial said “I fail to understand who is patronizing the killers.”
The MQM boycotted the ongoing session of the National Assembly in protest against the targeted killing of MPA Qureshi and his young son in North Nazimabad in Karachi.
Moreover, the party has also announced to observe three-day mourning following the murder of its Sindh Assembly member, business activities and transport to remain closed during mourning.
