Talking to media representatives outside Parliament House in Islamabad on Thursday, the JUI-F Chief said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah have given him the responsibility to convince the MQM leadership to withdraw their resignations.

The JUI-F Chief said that he would consult the constitutional experts whether there was a room in the law and constitution for withdrawal of the resignations.

Earlier, the prime minister presided over a meeting of leaders of parliamentary political parties at which the political leaders expressed concern over the resignation of MQM lawmakers and the possibility of a resulting political crisis in the country.

On Wednesday, the MQM lawmakers tendered their resignations from the National Assembly, Senate and the Sindh Assembly as to express their reservations over the Rangers-led operation in Karachi.
