ISLAMABAD: An additional sessions court on Saturday summoned former President Pervez Musharraf on May 22 in a case related to the murder of Abdul Rasheed Ghazi, and directed his counsel to ensure production of the accused on the next hearing.

The additional sessions court judge Wajid Ali was hearing the case in Islamabad on Saturday.

During today’s proceedings, Musharraf’s counsel Akhtar Shah appeared in the court and submitted three applications on behalf of his client that included seeking acquittal in the Ghazi murder case, exemption from today’s hearing and permanent exemption from appearing in the court.

The court granted the former president exemption from today’s hearing and issued notices to the concerned parties on his applications regarding permanent exemption from the proceedings and acquittal from the murder charges.
