ISLAMABAD: The special court on Thursday ordered the constitution of a medical board consisting of senior doctors of the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) to assess the former President Pervez Musharraf’s condition and submit a report in this regard by January 24.
In its four-page judgment, the special court formed to try him Pervez Musharraf treason said that decision on exemption of the former president to be given after medical board’s report.
The medical board would determine if (a) Is Pervez Musharraf suffering from serious illness which is hampering him from movement? (b) Has Musharraf undergone any surgery, or would undergo any in future? (c)For how much time did Doctors advised rest to Pervez Musharraf?
Earlier in the day, a three-member special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab and comprising Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali resumed hearing the treason case against former President Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad.
Musharraf, who is under treatment in a military hospital in Rawalpindi, did not appear before the court for today’s proceedings of treason case. His counsel, Anwar Mansoor, submitted an application seeking an exemption for his client from personal appearance in today’s proceedings, saying that his client could not appear in court today on account of his ill health.
The former president’s counsel said that doctors have recommended that Musharraf be treated at a hospital in France, the same medical facility where he once underwent tests.
Later, the special court adjourned the hearing of treason case against former president till Friday.
