Musharraf’s ECL petition: Hearing adjourned till May 7

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of former President Pervez Musharraf’s plea for removal of his name from the Exit Control List (ECL) till May 7.

A two-member divisional bench of the SHC consisting of Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Khalid Hussain Bhatti had issued notices to the government and the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) over Musharraf’s application seeking removal of his name from the ECL and directed them to submit their replies on April 23.

During today’s hearing, Musharraf’s counsel Barrister Farogh Naseem and Attorney General Salman Aslam Butt appeared before the bench. The Attorney General said that he received the notice only yesterday, and needed time to study and prepare the reply.

On the other hand, Musharraf’s counsel urged upon the bench that since his client’s mother was ill, he needed an urgent judgment so as to proceed to inquire about her health.

After hearing the arguments, the court gave two-week time to Attorney General and adjourned the hearing till May 7.
