ISLAMABAD: Former President Pervez Musharraf’s counsel Ahmad Raza Kasuri told the special court formed to try the former president for high treason that the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has threatened his client’s legal team to press for their disassociation from the case.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Faisal Arab and comprising Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali resumed the hearing of the case in Islamabad on Wednesday.
During the proceedings, Musharraf’s lawyers expressed security concerns and said they could not continue with the court proceedings under the prevailing security situation.
Kasuri informed the court that the TTP has threatened his client’s legal team including himself, Anwar Mansoor Advocate and Sharifuddin Pirzada to press for their disassociation from the case.
In his remarks, Justice Arab said that though dangers exist nothing can be done about it and the case cannot be stopped in order to wait for a suitable time over the threats.
Later, the hearing was adjourned till March 7 while Justice Arab said that the ruling on plea relating biased judges will be announced in next hearing.
