ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: National Highway Authority (NHA) is planning to build 174 kilometre Muzaffarabad- Mirpur- Mangla (MMM) expressway which would cost Rs 168 billion.

An official of the NHA said Thursday that the present government was committed to provide modern road facilities to all parts of the country including Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that MMM expressway would start from Dina on the Grand Trunk Road (N-5) and passing from Mirpur, Kalar Syedan, Kotli Sattian and Dhirkot will end at Muzaffarabad. It will have 81 bridges and four tunnels. Its alignment was approved in September 2015, he said.

He said that extension of Islamabad-Muzaffarabad Dual Carriageway (IMDC) from Lower Topa to Kohala through a new virgin alignment via Chijana which will connect the proposed alignment of Mirpur-Mangla-Muzaffarabad (MMM) at Sari Bandi is under consideration.

He said that construction work on two schemes are being planned to commence soon subject to availability of requisite funds.
