PESHAWAR: Former Inspector General Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Malik Naveed was arrested on Wednesday over irregularities in purchase of weapons for police department.
Naveed, who served as IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during 2008 to 2010, was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials when he arrived in Peshawar from Islamabad to attend a meeting on Wednesday.
The officials will produce the former IG before an accountability court on Thursday for obtaining his physical remand.
The former IG is accused of issuing around Rs7 billion for the purchase of weapons for police department during his time in office.
