ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Though boasting of having been the main instrumental in purging the Country of corruption, but in fact the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has allegedly reached plea bargain agreements worth mere Rs 10,000 with those who had actually looted millions of rupees.

As per documents cited by Daily 92 News, 290 government officers and employees charged with misuse of authority, possessing assets beyond their known sources of income, and causing loss of trillion of rupees to the Country have cleared themselves following settlements with NAB under plea bargain.

According to the documents, NAB has even plea bargained worth mere Rs 10,000 with corrupt officers and employees.

One of such corrupt offices is Din Muhammad, who is the former Assistant State Manager in Capital Development Authority (CDA) and an accused of arranging fake allotments in the Federal Capital, has carried out a plea bargain deal with NAB worth Rs 10,000. Likewise, a plea bargain deal worth Rs 11,500 was executed with an employee of Utility Store Muhammad Shahbaz.

Besides in several cases, settlements were carried out under plea bargain deals worth less than Rs 100,000 such as the former Executive District Office (EDO) Multan Hameeda Ejaz plea bargained with NAB of Rs 39,000.

While Ran Nasir, Naib Tehsildar Raheem Gul, Utility Store employee Usman Shahzad, Senior Auditor Abdul Aziz, and Pir Muhammad Iqbal of Education Department KPK were also cleared after plea bargain deals worth Rs 29,000, Rs 63,000, Rs 46,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 72,000 respectively.
