It comes two days after the Auditor General of Pakistan Rana Asad Amin began audit of the CIIT as per directions by the Chairman National Assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Syed Khursheed Shah.
Khursheed Shah had ordered the auditor general of Pakistan to take notice of the issue of illegal awarding of degrees by the COMSATS.
The institute is accused of having signed an agreement with a UK-based university without approval of the Pakistani government.
In addition, the PhD thesis of the Pro-Rector of the CIIT and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Testing Service (NTS) Dr Haroon Rashid has also reportedly been found to be over 70 per cent plagiarized.
The sources said that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has already begun an investigating into the issue of plagiarism done by the Dr Haroon Rashid.
