PakistanNAB reforms to be made with consensus: Siddiqui

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Advisor to the Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui has said that reforms were required in the law pertaining to the functioning of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) which would be carried out with the consensus of opposition parties.

Talking to PTV, he said the government had always taken all the political parties on board for taking all the major decisions.

He said positive criticism and reaction over the Prime Minister’s statement regarding NAB’s working was the right of the opposition. He, however, noted that not a single person had contradicted the statement.

“Even Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Leader of Opposition Syed Khursheed Shah were not satisfied with the performance of NAB,” he added.

He said all the major political parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and PTI had expressed confidence over the NAB Chairman but some objections were raised about the performance of the institution.

He said due to the steps taken by the government during the last three years, corruption had decreased, which was also acknowledged by the international community. Those who were levelling corruption allegations against the government should provide evidence if any, he added.
