ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The national flag has been put on half-mast on all public and private buildings on Tuesday as mourning day is being observed across Pakistan over the Quetta Civil Hospital blast.
On Monday, 70 people mostly lawyers were martyred and over 100 injured in a bomb explosion at Civil Hospital in Quetta. The blast had followed the targeted killing of President Balochistan Bar Association (BBA) Bilal Anwar Kasi.
Following the Quetta blast, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif reached Quetta to inquire after the health of injured people in the deadly bomb blast.
The federal government announced one-day mourning while the Balochistan government announced to observe three days of mourning over the blast.
Sources said that the routine life stands still in Balochistan as all bazaars and business centers are closed in Quetta City.
Likewise, all educational institutions are also closed in the provincial metropolis while there is thin traffic on roads.
The Lawyers community is also boycotting proceedings of all courts across the country. A rally was also taken out on MA Jinnah road in Karachi by lawyers to condemn the Quetta blast.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali also left for Quetta from Islamabad today. He will meet with families of martyred lawyers and inquires health of injured persons.
Separately, funeral prayers in absentia of Quetta blast victims were offered in Karachi and Multan today.
