ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) political ally Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai on Saturday held a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
In a statement issued by the PM House, it was told that the two leaders discussed the current political situation in the country as well as the matters pertaining to the national interest.
The meeting followed an address to the nation by the prime minister in which he as per opposition’s strong demand, announced that he would write a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan for setting up of a Commission to probe allegations being levelled against his family in the wake of Panama Leaks.
The prime minister also said that he would accept the verdict of the Commission and quit the office if proved guilty.
Separately as part of efforts to keep the government under pressure over Panama Papers, the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Friday held separate telephonic conversations with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Sirajul Haq, and discussed with them several options to investigate the scandal.
