ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday chaired a meeting regarding the interest-free loan scheme in Islamabad and approved the scheme worth Rs 3.5 billion to be disbursed among one million people across the country.
The disbursement of the loans will start in third week of June while 50 percent of the beneficiaries would be women.
Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister hoped the scheme would help boost economic activity in the country. He said that micro credit is an instrument of change for the poorest segment of the society, especially women.
The chairperson prime minister youth scheme Maryam Nawaz said that loans will be disbursed through Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, adding that each beneficiary will receive up to Rs 50,000.
In addition, proper loan center and business support center will be formed to facilitate the beneficiaries.
