Nawaz hopes Pak-Saudi relations to strengthen during King Salman’s tenure

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed hope that during the reign of the new Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, relations between the two brotherly countries will continue to strengthen.

In a message, the prime minister also felicitated Salman bin Abdul Aziz and Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz for becoming King of Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince respectively.

Nawaz Sharif visited Saudi Arabia on Friday to attend the funeral of late King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and announced one-day mourning in Pakistan to join the Saudi nation in its hour of grief.

The Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud passed away in Riyadh early on Friday morning at the age of 90 after suffering from lung infection for several weeks.

The Crown Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud was officially appointed as the new Saudi king and Prince Muqrin Bin Abdul Aziz the new crown prince.

New Saudi King vow to continue predecessor’s policies

In a televised speech, the new King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud pledged to continue the policies of his predecessor King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz.

The new King said that the country would never deviate from its Constitution, the Holy Book and Islamic teachings.

King Salman also announced appointment of Muqrin Bin Abdul Aziz as Crown Prince and Muhammed bin Nayef as Deputy Crown Prince.
