Lahore, Pakistan: While rejecting his disqualification by Supreme Court of Pakistan, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif promised with his voters to amend Constitution of Pakistan which enabled disqualification of two prime ministers during the last five years.

It may be mentioned that the ruling party of former Prime Minister has two-third majority in National Assembly and can amend 1973 Constitution without any problem.

While concluding his four-day journey from Islamabad to Daata Darbar Lahore, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in his final speech on late Saturday night said that an inter-institutional dialogue is (was) needed among parliamentarians, senior army officers, bureaucracy and judges to ensure supremacy of Parliament.

Nawaz Sharif said that no prime minister could complete his/her tenure in Pakistan and were removed due to conspiracies against democracy and against Parliament.

Without naming former Army chiefs Gen Ziaul Haq and Gen Musharraf, Nawaz Sharif questioned would those dictators who had eaten away 30 years of Pakistan ever be held accountable for what they had done against democracy?

“There is no country as Pakistan where there is no importance of the votes of the masses”, he added.

Addressing his workers at different cities on G.T. Road during his four-day journey, former Prime Minister Nawaz had been mentioning that there was a conspiracy against him but he refrained from naming those, who according to him, conspired against him.

It may be mentioned that former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by five-member bench of Supreme Court as the bench found that he was not Sadiq and Ameen (faithful, trustworthy) under article 62 (1-f) of the Constitution.

The former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif acted in accordance with the decision of Supreme Court and left his charge within hour after hearing the decision. However, his party believes “justice was not awarded”. His disqualification was in accordance with the Constitution of Pakistan like disqualification of former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani and disbanding of several governments in past.

Since 1973, six political governments were sent home by using certain constitutional clauses although 1973 Constitution.

While addressing his workers in Lahore, Nawaz Sharif indicated that he would support thoughts of Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani who recently said that there is (was) an imbalance among Parliament, Executive and Judiciary.

It is pertinent to mention that Articles 62 and 63 were included during Army dictator Ziaul Haq both articles helped to disqualify two prime ministers during the last five years. Another former Article 58-2/B was also included by Ziaul Haq that helped in sending deceased Prime Minister Muhammad Khan Junejo, assassinated Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to their homes by dissolving their assemblies and governments. However, this article was repealed by the Parliament.
