OKARA, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday lashed out at the opposition, saying he wouldn’t resign on someone’s demand.
“I am being asked to resign; will Nawaz Sharif resign on your demand,” the prime minister said at a public gathering in Okara, referring to the opposition parties especially Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who are demanding Nawaz’s resignation following the Panama verdict.
“You just play cricket, you lack ability to run the Country”, Nawaz Sharif further said in apparent reference to the PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
The prime minister said that today’s public rally in Okara dwarfs the ones held by opposition parties.
“Opponents Jalsia cannot equate the gathering of PML-N,” he said.
Terming Okara the heartland of the Country, the prime minister said that people here are highly motivated to bring Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) again to power in 2018. He said that the PML-N government is committed to bring significant improvement in the lives of the people.
Moreover, the prime minister announced that Okara will be linked with motorway soon to make it at par with other developed parts of the Country. He said this was our campaign promised in 2013 which we are fulfilling.
Talking about the inauguration of a gas provision project in Okara, the prime minister said that Rs470 million will be spent on the provision of gas to the City. Similarly, he added, that Rs740 million is being spent on construction of flyover in Okara besides the improvement of roads at a cost of Rs200 million.
The prime minister also said that a 200-bed existing hospital is being upgraded to 500-bed to provide relief and faculties to the patients. He also announced to establish an industrial estate in Okara.
Moreover, he said that the government has launched a number of power projects to increase power supply in the Country and by 2018 load-shedding will be eradicated once and for all.
